Chatted with a cab uncle on the way back home. Get to know that the cab uncle is currently holding up 2 jobs to make ends meet. In the day he is some class 4 driver, and at night he drives night shift cabs. Usually he drives till around 3am and sleep and wake up to 7am to work the next day.
Tough life for the driver really. He has a family of 4 kids to support and his current day job is not enough to provide for his family, and as the sole bread owner, he has to take up 2 jobs to have more money. And also his education level is not that high but he still cross the communication barrier and communicate with us.
Salute the uncle. He taught us a lot more about the life and reality. (Not like I did not hear that before but a lot of people are telling me a lot about stuffs like that.) I also have the mentality that no money no survive in Singapore. :/ Which is really true!
Everything rises now! Electrical bills, daily necessities... People have to work harder to pay off it! And if you don't have enough education, you cannot get a decent job with a decent pay and of course life will be tough on you. Sadly, you need luck to be with you as well.
The standards of living in Singapore is high, really high. Everything now requires the understanding of english and also a bit of social status for you to get recognize. People with no money and status will just get pushed down by the cruel society. In this world you have to survive somehow and somewhere.
Haiz. And I doubt my future often too! Like will I make it to a university? Would I get a decent job? Woud I even make it to graduate? Would I... A lot of doubts I have in mind. In fact I am still wandering if I will even continue to this route for my uni. Does this really suits me? What my future holds? So many doubts for my future!
Eeeeek. Being an adult is hard. Being an adult in the growing society is even harder!! Not say that Singapore is more or less 'developed'... Oh wells... Best of luck to people out there who are fighting hard to survive!!
